Abstract
The purpose of this thesis is to define the nature of W. Somerset Maugham's philosophy of life as represented in his plays. The study has been limited to Maugham's plays alone, for the volume of his work would make it impossible to complete a thorough study of it in the time allotted for the master's thesis.
