Abstract
During the school year of 1953-54 Marquette University was approached by a representative of the local independent television station WCAN-TV. It was proposed that Marquette, through the School of Speech, present weekly public-service program on Sunday evenings. After discussions between officials of the University and the program director of WCAN-TV, Mr. Dean McCarthy, a policy evolved which brought about a program called ENCORE. It is the realm of this paper to present three of the nine scripts which were used on this program. The scripts and the discussion of some of the problems encountered take on added importance in light of the fact that each of the scripts and the answers to the problems had to pass the scrutiny of a real television audience.
