Abstract
While it is generally believed that Catholic Archdiocesan High School teachers of speech are not prepared in terms of present certification requirements, there is no collected, comprehensive data or other objective evidence on the problem. It is therefore the province of this thesis to determine the extent to which the above mentioned teachers, in the United States, are qualified in terms of the standard set by certain accepted authorities in the field of education and to evaluate the results. The information offered here comes from recent texts and periodicals in the fields of Speech and Education plus results of surveys taken by the writer to obtain the most recent information regarding the problem.
