Abstract

The concept of formal electrode potential is one which has been of surpassing interest to me since I first encountered it in undergraduate study. This interest was stimulated largely as a result of my becoming aware of variations in the definition and interpretation of the term formal potential as given by various authors. In this work I have sought to precisely define the formal potential entity which is most significant in the characterization of redox indicators, which are the subjects of this study.
