Abstract
A critical appreciation of the historical aspects of any contemporary educational movement is important. All modern social programs have their roots in the past. Our modern world is not static. No civilization rests on permanent changeless foundations. All reveal a growing changing organism. Development is the keynote, of what we often presume to call, progress. Movements, which were important a generation ago, have ceased to register a present value. Society is in a constant state of flux, and at no two periods have conditions been the same.
