Abstract
Our understanding of the protein synthetic process has progressed rapidly over the last several years, and it is now approaching the point when we can ask questions about the relation of structure to function at the level of chemistry. It seems that in the next few years, we can expect this approach to yield a satisfying understanding of some of the processes that govern the interaction of macromolecules and to provide a more rigorous definition of the protein synthetic process .
