Abstract

Perhaps historians will look back on our present era and judge the years of the 1960 1s and 1970 1s as a period of the most radical change that man and his world have undergone in all of history. There seems to be more and more truth in the theory that nothing is stable except change. If this is not totally true of all mankind, it certainly appears to be quite true of the American culture. The giant strides of technology, of population, and of knowledge since World War II have of necessity created a situation in which all of life is being questioned and improved. There is no element in our society which has escaped the quizzical glances of our people. Relevancy is the keynote of change today, and there is scarcely any tradition, any organization, or any institution which has not begun to be examined in the light of its relevant meaning.
