Abstract

Listening has become a much discussed subject in the educational field within the last five or ten years; and more so in the realm of foreign languages. Called by some authors, "an individual creative art", listening is a highly complex process which entails the most intensive mental activity. Although listening has no content of its own, nevertheless, it is an integral part of the entire curriculum. Many educators maintain, that it has become essential for listening to be taught in this tremendous age, when student s are confronted by so many conflicting ideas acquired through mass media. Every assignment and every class period of the day's program demands that the student listen. Success in school depends on listening ability.
