Abstract

The purpose of this thesis is to promote the use of the rescattering operator. It is pointed out in the present work that an analogy to some simple matrix algebra is quite useful in orienting ourselves for the problem, and that the recent progress of scattering theory may be summarized in a transparent form by using that analogy. The behavior of what we call the mode parameter K will be examined as a function of the wave vector for the example of square well potential. The order of procedure is: (1) Introduction (2) Scattering theory and the use of T-matrix. (3) Rescattering operator and its eigenfunctions. Example of Square Well Potential. (4) Conclusion.
