Abstract
Ostomates require specialized, planned nursing care to facilitate rehabilitation and minimize physical, psychological and socialization problems. The purpose of this essay was to help in the rehabilitation process of the ostomate through development of a teaching booklet and an ostomy teaching flowsheet for use by both patients and health professionals. A questionnaire was used to determine what information should be included in the booklet and flowsheet as well as how and when this information should be disseminated.
