Abstract

The effect of processing parameters on the void content of a filament wound composite cylinder has been studied using the Taguchi method of experimental design. In a composite material, the void content is frequently used as an indication of the quality of the product. The goal was to identify the processing parameters that contributed to the variation in the void content of the composite cylinders, so that they could be selected and controlled to produce a product with an acceptably low void content at the lowest possible manufacturing cost.
