Abstract

A general theorem is developed tor determining the drag on axially symmetric bodies under the conditions or Magnetohydrodynamic Stokes flow in a parallel magnetic field. Two examples are given which are applications of this theorem. The first example applies to a sphere and the results obtained are close to solutions found by other studies. For the second example, the drag on a prolate epheroid is examined. An approach similar to that used on the sphere is found to be too cumbersome and an alternate method is employed to produce the expression for drag.
