Abstract

The Essential Objectives in Reading in the primary grades the mechanics of reading demand the attention and are quite thoroughly mastered. The inter­mediate grades stress rate and comprehension and bring them to a high degree of efficiency. By the time a child leaves the sixth grade his reading habits are quite well established. The later grades must continue the work done in the middle grades, extend it and broaden it.
