Abstract
The Essential Objectives in Reading in the primary grades the mechanics of reading demand the attention and are quite thoroughly mastered. The intermediate grades stress rate and comprehension and bring them to a high degree of efficiency. By the time a child leaves the sixth grade his reading habits are quite well established. The later grades must continue the work done in the middle grades, extend it and broaden it.
