Abstract

In writing this thesis my object has been to obtain an intimate, view of the ancient Greek athlete. I have attempted to picture him as Homer depicted him in the Iliad and as he lived from the eighth to the fourth century B.C. I also tried to engender a real appreciation of the physical perfection that he attained by describing the events in which he actually competed.
