Abstract
The value of extra-curricular activities in the junior high school is no longer questioned. The amount of space given to them in recent educational publications proves that there is an intense interest in them at the present.
This contribution is an attempt to set forth the basic principles underlying the administration and supervision of extra-curricular activities. A description of the common types of extra-curricular activities together with their aims and values, is presented. No attempt at detailed discussions has been made, as the problems of each activity are so vast that each one merits a volume in itself. A few illustrations of activities that have been tried out success.fully in various schools are described, but no school can adapt from another a program in its entirety. Each school must work out its own scheme, and must determine from its own particular background and equipment just what activities will be successful.
