Abstract
In this thesis my problem is to point out the conflict between the Stoic and Epicurean philosophy as found, in the four books of Odes of Horace and decide which school Horace agrees with on various points. As a conclusion I shall attempt to place Horace in his proper place as far as I can judge from his Odes.
