Abstract
The method of teaching current events received little or no attention by educator until after the World War. Teacher training institutions offered no courses in the subject; textbooks on methods failed to treat current events, because as a study it had not been given a formal place in the curriculum; and as a consequence the classroom teacher, if she taught the subject at all, devoted but a few minutes a week from the history class to this branch of study. Because of the lack of proper guidance, current events was, as a rule, poorly taught.
