Abstract
In discussing methods of learning at all, it may be well to define the word method. What is meant when one speaks of method? One dictionary definition is a mode of procedure, a manner, or way as a method of teaching. Dewey defines it in this way, "Method means that arrangement of subject matter which makes it most effective for use." If this definition is used, a relationship between method and subject matter must be conceded, the one cannot be isolated from the other although the attempt is still being made in many schools of today. Some of the dangers of this isolation are the neglect of concrete solutions by experience and the wrong conception of interest.
