Abstract
It has been with difficulty that precise information of any kind regarding the surface coating of concrete and cement finishes had been found. In fact, there was limited information to be found after 1930. Having but a short time to conduct any research, it was impossible to delve too deeply into this branch of the thesis. It is sincerely hoped that in the very near future a more thorough, extensive and comprehensive study can be made on this subject. The purpose of this thesis is to determine the best composition of concrete and the best surface coating for it and cement finishes. It is evident, however, that this field has not had sufficient research and sufficient work done upon it. An experiment of this nature takes very much time because the elements play an important part (nature cannot be rushed), and other phases controlling the experiment require much patience. There is much floundering in the use of concrete and cement surface coatings. This, of course, leads to much useless exploitation and as a result, waste of money. Perhaps in the very near future with a better organization and more research and experimentation into this field, much of this waste of money and useless exploiting will be checked.
