Abstract
The modern Theatre is the Theatre of experiment. It is a product of the age of Reason, in which everything is looked on with suspicion until a plausible scientific theory is advanced to dignify it with the garb of authority. At a time when the critical and uncritical people which make up any audience preferred to have all articles labeled before purchasing, this pigeonholing mania had been advanced to the extent of naming dramatists, novelists, and poets according to their type of thinking.
