Abstract
My purpose in writing this thesis is to discover whether Milton's tragedy "Samson Agonistes" contains any elements of structure or form which are characteristic of ancient Greek tragedy. My method of procedure is to determine, through the study of the works of Aeschylus and Sophocles, the essential elements in Greek tragedy, and through an analysis of "Samson Agonistes" to determine whether there are any evidences contained therein that indicate that Milton was influenced by the writers of Greek tragedy.
