Abstract

The importance of the forward pass to the game of football can easily be seen by the number of games won each year by its use. It is the purpose of this treatise to point out and discuss the important principles involved in a defensive and offensive passive system. The introductory chapter on the history of the pass is written to give the reader a foundation upon which the following chapters are built and to stress the importance of the forward pass to the modern game.

If there is any real contribution to the game of football in this treatise it is because an attempt has been made to survey all successful systems, as set down in the written works of the leading football strategists, and to discuss those principals which are most generally agreed upon.

It is hoped that this work will to of value to the less experienced, coaches, players and spectators.
