Abstract
The study of the contribution of the American University to the Theater is interesting in that only since 1911 have the American Universities awakened to the necessity of organizing dramatic activities. In the two and a half decades since then the colleges and universities have taken rapid strides in their building of little theaters. They have therefore become the experimental producing medium of actors, playwrights and scenic designers, who before this time "were dragged up amid the slums of Broadway.’’
