Abstract

This research was undertaken in order to study the breaking of the double bonds in a benzene ring by some means other than direct hydrogenation. A study of the literature reveals that the benzene ring has been broken up by chlorination giving hexachlorides of benzene as products of the reaction. But no information regarding the hexachlorides themselves or their method of preparation could be found in the current literature.
