Abstract

An investigation of the phenyl urethans of saturated, aliphatic, liquid alcohols disclosed that there was a great discrepancy in the literature with regard to the melting points of these compounds. It was also found that the preparations of the phenyl urethans were either vague or specific for a few selected alcohols.

The purpose of this thesis was to prepare these derivatives in the laboratory in order to compare the melting points found to those in the literature.
