Abstract
The term "piezo" was derived from the Greek word "piezein", meaning "to press".
Piezo-electricity relates to the peculiar electric effect of pres.sure on some. crystals. The particular crystals evincing this phenomenon are of the class of hemihedral or hemimorphous, possessing the asymmetric arrangement of either the atoms or molecules.
