Abstract
This thesis is an attempt to demonstrate, explain, and evaluate the Morrison unit plan as it is applied to the social sciences in the Junior high school* For helpful instructions in the Morrison plan my thanks are due to Professor Putsch of Marquette University and to Henry C. Morrison, of Chicago University, whose lectures I attended at the Shorewood high school, and who personally recommended to me some texts in the social sciences which followed his technique. Grateful acknowledgements are due Professor Treacy of Marquette University who directed the content of this thesis, and Dr. Vander Beke who assisted me in its arrangement and form. I am indebted to Miss Alice O'Brien, a substitute English teacher in the city of Milwaukee and its suburbs, for proof-reading the manuscript. Permission was given by Homer 8. Hemenway, Superintendent of the Shorewood schools, for the incorporation of class room material.
