Abstract
Probably the subject in the curriculum which has been most thoroughly studied and investigated by educators during the last few years is reading. There has been "a search for easy methods, philosophic methods, all sorts of methods by which a child may be inducted into its delights and mysteries. --- The subject has not only been covered, it has been immersed." (Cf. "A Guide to Lit. for Children" by W.T. Field. p. 60.)
