Abstract
Even in poetry is the existence of God proclaimed. Even in song are his praises sung. Millions of dollars are spent yearly erecting temples in his honor. Thousands of young men and women dedicate their lives to his service. Untold sacrifices are made in his name! In whose name? For whose service? Why, it is in the name, and for the service of that great infinite God who is the uncaused, first cause of all reality that began to be. Shall I tell these people that they are unreasonable, that there are acting in an illogical, irrational manner by serving and adoring a being who, beyond the fact of mere existence, has no foundation in reason at all - a being of whose attributes and qualities they know absolutely nothing - a being about whom their reason and intelligence can tell them nothing, except that he exists! Would you have me further the theory of Agnosticism?
