Abstract
The adolescent period, or "youth," as it is sometimes called, extends from the arrival of puberty to the attainment of maturity,. This period, therefore, begins about the twelfth or thirteenth year and is brought to a close in about the twenty first year, and for that reason is frequently termed the "teen" age.
The adolescent stage of life is usually split into three divisions, each overlapping the other, and these divisions are called for convenience, early, middle and late adolescence. The first extends from the twelfth to the fifteenth year, the second from the fourteenth to the eighteenth, and the third from the seventeenth to about the twenty-first year. These divisions correspond roughly in the field of education to the Junior high school, senior high school and the university.
