Abstract
The honeybee has lived In a society under such complex laws and has executed such varied and difficult labors that it has attracted the attention of men and women from the very earliest of times. Aristotle, Cato, Varro, Pliny, Columella, Pollodius, all studied the bee; as also did Arlstomachus (who, if we are to believe Cicero, watched them for forty-eight years) and Phylisius whose writings have been lost.
