Abstract

The author has endeavored, in this thesis, to give a brief sketch of the life of that heroic figure of French history, Joan of Arc, and to describe and distinguish her character as portrayed in certain writings of Shakespeare, Thomas De Quincey, Mark Twain, Bernard Shaw and Hilaire Belloc.
