Abstract
All living organisms whether they be the smallest single cells or the largest mammals demand nourishment for their multifarious physiological processes. Popular and pseudoscientific thinkers and writers speak of nutrition in terms of food consumed, while true scientific investigators consider nutrition in relation to the actual assimilation of the components of food called proteins, fats, and carbohydrates.
