Abstract
It Is surprising to note in the literature that oils and fats like linseed, tung, tea seed, soya bean and other oils although employed in the arts for many centuries still have their exact composition unknown. The fatty acids composing most of our common fats and oils are recognized but many of their properties still remain to be known. Up to the lat fifteen years the examination of oils was concerned only with the purity of a sample and with crude methods only rough compositions were calculated.
