Abstract
A half century ago, high school girl graduates were not numerous enough to constitute a major problem to the community. Besides, it was taken for granted that a girl's career was to be that of homemaking. Today the picture is different. There has been an increase of over 500% in the number of girls who graduate from high school and the American girl has developed interests in many fields. Women of to-day are called upon to help solve· political, social, economic and educational problems as never before. The tendency now is for a girl to choose a career outside the home with the idea of combining it with that of home making.
