Abstract
In the realms of literature no work of man has ever answered the question of St. Augustine, "Am I immortal or not?" with greater vividness of imagery, based in a large measure on the teaching of Christianity, than Dante has in his Divine Comedy. Not only the condition of the soul after death does he visualize, but as a philosopher he proposes for our instruction in the course of his journey many questions of dogmatic thought, affecting the Hereafter.
