Abstract
A thesis treating of David Belasco must, of necessity, be built around his realism in his productions. However, so many authors have spoken of him from only that angle, that it would be futile and absurd to devote more time and writing to it. Therefore this thesis shall touch upon his realism only insofar as it is concerned with the subject on hand.
The purpose of this thesis shall be to present a survey of David Belasco and his productions in New York. Obviously a background for his theatrical pursuits must be given.
