Abstract
In this treatise I have attempted careful study of Browning's poem Paracelsus. The primary object was to relate the historical life of Paracelsus and to show how correctly it correlated with Browning's poem. Secondly, I sought to analyze the character of Paracelsus as he appeared in his own background and environment, and to state the reasons wherefore Browning used him as the hero of his poem. Lastly, I have tried to outline the various points of philosophy found in the poet's spiritual interpretation of the man, which are universal because they are the eternal questions of mankind today, re-echoing to their fullest extent in our own era.
