Abstract
The late Thomas Hardy once remarked that there were only two great things in the United States: what he called our "recessional buildings", and the poetry of Edna St. Vincent Millay. Such praise of Miss Millay's work is proof that she has reached an enviable position in twentieth century literature. To our way of thinking such approbation from the late dean of modern novelists exceeds even the honor of winning the Pulitzer Prize for Poetry in 1922 with the poem, The Ballad of the Harp-Weaver.
