Abstract
This thesis has been divided into four Chapters, the first of which presents what meager information the author has been able to obtain regarding the personal history of Ruth Schaumann, the second a chronological outline of her works and a short analysis of her poetry and prose works, including quotations from "Die Kathedrale", "Der Knospengrund", and "Der Rebenhag". In the fourth Chapter the author has attempted, by means of a comparison or Ruth Sohaumann's works with those or other leading German Catholic authors, to portray her personal impressions, and indicate her idea of Ruth Sohaumann's possible future in the literary world. The third Chapter contains quite a number or opinions of leading persons in the literary field, as well as in the field or art, concerning Ruth Sohaumann's plastic and poetic work.
