Abstract
For over two hundred years the Christians had been a hunted and persecuted sect. The efforts of one man gave these people a new status before the law and their fellow beings. With Constantine began the enthronement of Christianity, and for one thousand years what is most vital in European history is connected with Christian institutions and doctrines. If not the greatest, Constantine was one of the greatest, of all the absolute monarchs who controlled the destinies of over one hundred millions of subjects. It is with the man and his work for mankind that my thesis deals.
