Abstract

In writing this thesis, the writer has traced the story of the Playground Movement in America from the earliest to the modern times. Due consideration is given to the rise of the Milwaukee Playground System, its administration, and maintenance under competent leaders. The thesis also offers, in as vivid a way as possible, the main facts about the play movement and program, its significance in the life of the individual and the community, and the sources of information regarding it.
