Abstract
In America, the development of the study of geography has been very slow, and until recent years, this country could boast of very few geographers, and had made little progress in the field of geographic research. Germany and France have long been leaders in this field, and some of the moot reliable authorities on the subject are the French and German geographers. Almost every country in Europe "now has its professional geographers and geography has long been recognized as a subject for independent study and research."
