Abstract
The Theatre is a world apart--a world by itself; it enacts its own laws, and rules its subjects according to them. The life that revolves around the Theatre is probably the most beautiful, the most artistic, the most fascinating, the most intriguing--yet the most cruel, the most fickle, the most exacting, the most difficult life. The Theatre lauds and applauds you while you bring it fame; it ignores you, once you fail to enrich its splendor. It demands your youth, your freshness, your energy, and your talent, only to force you into oblivion when your talents and energy have been spent. It demands your entire life, only to forget you once you can no longer be of any service to it. It is your greatest benefactor only when you can do its bidding. There is no other world in which one can become so completely famous, and, at the same time, so complete a failure.
