Abstract

The purpose of the writer in making this study is to gain a better understanding of problem children, and to learn what are present trends in the handling of such cases, that she may be able to apply this knowledge in her own field and adapt it to the particular children with whom she comes in contact.

This survey is concerned with personality and behavior problems. The subject was considered under three general heads: First, the causes of maladjustment, second, the types of maladjustment, and third, the methods of treatment.

The sources of material used in this study are books and periodicals on child psychology, child guidance, mental hygiene, delinquency, character training, the home, and the school.
