Abstract
The philosophy of the Material World, more specifically known as Cosmology, deals with the material world as an ordered whole, and with the general laws which govern it. It is a science, metaphysical 'tis true, but a science bearing a resemblance to the particular sciences or so called physical ones as physics, zoology, etc. Its first object is to discover the origin, the destiny and the perfection of the material universe. It applies the four Aristotelean causes to the universe, and in treating of the explanation for the existence of matter itself, three possible explanations are left open to the mind for judgement. The first of such possible explanations is known as Pantheism.
