Abstract
In studying Shakespeare with a view to his complying with Aristotle’s idea of the Tragic Katharsis it is primarily necessary to have a clear conception of the meaning of Katharsis and Aristotle's valuation of its function in the tragedy. After such knowledge has been firmly acquired it will facilitate a reading of Shakespeare from the standpoint of Katharsis.
