Abstract

Investigations on the nature of the antherozoid, or male gamete, in the Archegoniates has been of great cytological interest to numerous workers. An apparent consistency of certain characteristics in the antherozoids of the Bryophytes and the Pteridophytes has, also, undoubtably been of value in determining phylogenic relationships.
