Abstract
Acute lung injury (ALI), characterized by rapidly progressing hypoxic lung failure, is one of the most frequent causes of admission to medical intensive care units [1]. Studies have suggested that mitochondrial dysfunction plays a key role in the pathogenesis of ALI [2]. Thus, the objective of this study is to develop and validate a thermodynamically-constrained computational model of lung mitochondrial bioenergetics.
